As we were leaving the south, we left the concrete landscapes of Bangkok behind, driving towards the green rural beauty of the Chonburi province. While we loved the food scene in Bangkok, Pattaya is the closest beach destination to Bangkok, and we couldn’t miss an opportunity to enjoy a beach sunset and a change of scenery.
We took route 7, and the whole ride took us less than two hours, but you can also take a train from Hua Lamphong to this lovely hotel in Pattaya.
The Heritage Pattaya Beach Resort dates back to 2012, so it’s a relatively new hotel in Thailand, and most of the fixings and decor still look fresh. The first thing that came to mind after we dropped off the minivan was, “Wow, this place is huge”. The hotel has a total of three buildings; two of them have a pool view, and one has an ocean view. The territory is so large I even got lost coming back from breakfast on the first day – but luckily, there was a concierge that helped me out.
The check-in process was a bit slow, but luckily, there are lots of super soft couches where you can wait.
Huge Rooms with a View
We stayed in the Deluxe Double Room, the size of a small apartment! Fifty-five square meters and all to ourselves! The first thing I usually do when arriving at any hotel is to check the bedsheets and overall cleanliness – and I was so happy to find the room was spotless. We also enjoyed the bathroom, which had a shower and a bathtub.
Our room had a pool view, and although we were a little worried about the noise coming from the common area (there were small parties till late at night), double-glazed closed windows did a great job. The rooms’ windows are decorated with blackout curtains that keep the morning light out. Unfortunately, soundproofing between the rooms was poor – we could hear some noises from the neighbors, especially their kids, in the morning and evening, which can be annoying if you’re trying to chill out. Also, there is no room service.
The air conditioning worked quietly and kept the room pleasantly cold. With a control panel beside the bed, you can adjust the temperature without leaving the comfort of a blanket. Our friends in another room had a minor accident – their AC stopped working. To their happiness, hotel maintenance managed to fix it right away while our friends were having breakfast.

Beach Is Just Over the Fence
The main pool is long, with two small water slides that the kids loved. But there was no place to order drinks or snacks, so we just brought our own stuff from the 7-Eleven and had a picnic by the pool. The pool towels are kept in a little hut on the right side when you come in from the lobby, which is handy.
The only downside is there aren’t enough sunbeds at the Heritage Resort on Pattaya Beach, so sometimes it’s hard to find a spot to relax when the hotel is busy.
Breakfast in Cute Company
The breakfast spot is located on the ground floor, closer to the beach entrance. The food was okay, with a good selection of Thai food and European dishes. Best of all, you can sit outside facing the sea and enjoy a stunning vista of the nearby Koh Larn island in the distance. Enjoying our morning meal while taking in the breathtaking scenery was such a treat.
Unfortunately, there’s no coffee machine in the breakfast area of the beach resort, only a pot with a bitter pre-brewed coffee.
While we were chewing on the morning pastry, we saw a hotel employee stepping outside with slices of watermelon. Only then did we notice a charcoal squirrel waiting on the tree right next to us! The little guy knew precisely when breakfast was served and enjoyed his sweet treat beside us. Word of caution: if you try to feed the squirrel with watermelon, remove the seeds because they may become a choking hazard.
Verdict: If we had to book another holiday in Pattaya, we would stay here at the Heritage Pattaya Resort again without hesitation.
